Singapore Paradise: JKC2 by ONG&ONG

This little (okay, not so little) slice of tropical paradise was built with the outdoors in mind. Located in Bukit Timah, Singapore, the JKC2 house, designed by ONG&ONG, is composed of three structures positioned around a central courtyard. But, it’s not just any courtyard – this one plays host to a heavenly looking pool with views of lush greenery in the not-so-far distance.

The courtyard pool comes complete with a really unique feature – a planted tree in the middle of it. The tree breaks up the sea of blue/green water with a bit of nature as a focal point.

The interior and exterior spaces of the home are meant to blend seamlessly with siding glass doors that disappear into the facade. A wood-slatted overhang provides ample shade to the living room while allowing some light to trickle in. It also ties the three volumes together with the continued use of wood.

There’s also a good amount of fair-faced concrete, stone, steel, and of course, the tropical wood previously mentioned, throughout the inside and outside of the residence. A real balance of warmth is created through the use of materials.

No matter what building you’re in, there are views to the pool.

Despite the overall modern aesthetic of the home, it’s full of textures and visual interest and not a coldness that is often prevalent.
