Karsa Chair by Marko Runjic of Rudesign

Serbian designer Marko Runjic of Rudesign created the lightweight, 22-segment Karsa chair. The concept reminds me of the divided, intersecting inserts that go in boxes to separate stuff. With 11 segments going one way and 11 going the other way, the chair is completely sturdy when stretched out.

It’s lightweight and easy to carry and goes completely flat when not in use. The seat is contoured to fit the body and is made of either soft expanded PVC or cardboard. There is a cushion that fits in it to make it more comfortable. I’m not sure it’s right for hours of lounging but it’s certainly cool to look at or a temporary sit.
