Kenneally Residence in Oregon by PIQUE LLC

The Kenneally Residence by PIQUE LLC is located in the Tetherow golf development in Bend, Oregon. Not only does it boast spectacular golf course views, but you can see well beyond the golf course. The goal of the designers was to create privacy while maintaining the views, and also satisfy their client’s need for a variety of living spaces both formal and informal.

From the designers:

It was most inspiring for us to see how this golf course is naturally nestled into the uniform topography, pine trees and lava flows of the high dessert.  With this in mind, it became incredibly important for us to create a building that is appropriate in scale and height to the surrounding contours and allow the landscape to permeate the building as much as possible. These observations, informed by the site and program analysis shaped the building around the “lone tree” on the site and created a partially enclosed courtyard. The rooms are laid out in a sequential path and window openings in each space reveal certain elements of the surrounding landscape as the occupant moves from space-to-space. The proposed use of earthborn, local materials further stitches the building to this specific place. Along with smart passive solar orientation and shading strategies, the house features a 4 Kw photovoltaic array and a window-wall of evacuated solar tubes to offset electricity and water heating costs.
