LDF 2011: Designersblock Part 2

This is Part 2 of Designersblock, and the last but surely not least of our London Design Festival coverage. Read Part 1 here, and make sure you haven’t missed a beat — read all of our LDF 2011 posts here.

Graphic Relief are doing incredible things with high precision moulding and concrete.

More macabre in this delicate porcelain tableware set, each piece made in the image of a sheep’s skull.

Gorgeous ceramics from three adorably enthusiastic lads, Greig Paterson, John McAlpine and Graeme Banks, awaited me in the next room of this Victorian labyrinth.

And yet more macabre from The New English.

I loved this little table from Daniel Scofield – it almost looks like it might walk across the room. He says he likes to make furniture that makes you smile – he’s certainly achieving that with this piece.

More drawing 3D outlines with metal wire, this time from Donna Walker Design. (A bit of a trend; also spotted at Tent London.)

…and a variation on the theme from the lovely Charlie Sekers, this time with lights.

I loved the meeting of old and new in this Making Your Mark Desk from Alice Naylor which uses an old school desk lid as a fold down desk from a new console.

And last but not least, I adored this table with a hat stand “growing” out of one side from Edward Taylor.

What a show, what a festival! London Design Festival 2011 was the best one yet – I can’t wait for next year!
