A Modern Handcrafted Chair with Stunning Details

The YC1 chair, part of the Yamanami collection, was designed by Tokyo-based Mikiya Kobayashi for Takumi Kohgei. The wooden structure, made from oak or walnut, with its fabric-covered seat cushion might look like just another chair if it weren’t for its unique detailing.

Simple white rope is threaded through holes in the chair and run through a leather, tube-like detail which helps to cradle the back while creating a beautiful and unexpected seat back.
