South African born designer Natalie Gerber has a line of handbags and other accessories from reclaimed materials and prints she’s created in collaboration with a group in Durban, South Africa.
While she lives and works in Calgary, Canada now, she is clearly inspired by her homeland and chose to work with KwaDabeka Township on the imagery in her hand-printed fabrics. The geometric patterns are rich in texture and make for an interesting story.
I love how she mixes printed fabrics with leathers and suedes.
Thanks for the head’s up, Astrid!
