Nodo by Andrea Brugnera

Nodo is a minimalist design collection created by Italy-based designer Andrea Brugnera. His specialty is working with cardboard, and his thesis at the University of Padua was on the construction of honeycomb cardboard furniture. He prefers to express his designs in cardboard and wood because of their connection to nature without sacrificing versatility.

The collection includes a number of pieces including a wardrobe, buffet, sideboard, cabinet, nightstand, tall dresser, and short dresser. Each of the designs feature the “code” drawer handle, which allows users to create a variety of different configurations by wrapping rope around the pre-configured holes. The configurations can include anything from shapes to numbers or letters.

The pieces all have a consistent design vernacular: inclined feet, white base, and wooden drawers. The construction of the pieces includes a spruce blackboard structure that is plated and lacquered with a water-based varnish. The feet are solid oak while the drawers use oak wood veneer. The rope is recycled cotton obtained through sustainable production that has not been dyed.
