Casa Shelly, by ColectivoMX, is located 20 minutes away from San José del Cabo, in the Laguna Hills community, Cabo del Este. The client is a photographer and surfer, who wished the home to be urban-looking, with low water and energy use as well as low maintenance. The architects added additional requirements — preservation of unique vegetation, minimum pollution during the building process, use of workforce and local materials, and natural ventilation. Therefore, they ended up only using a base of five materials: concrete, steel, wood, aluminum and glass. The exterior was finished with tinted, polished concrete so that it is low maintenance and can withstand the heat and water. The interior walls are white-painted plaster.

The Gaia Chair designed by María Margarita García Munzer and Pål Jacob Jacobsen of Tuyo Design features what looks to be felt in between wood slats. On the back, the felt protrudes in the shape of a bird and leaves. It was recently on display at the Stockholm Furniture Fair.

Based in Brooklyn, EXOvault’s cases for the iPhone and iTouch are created to counter the mass-produced options already on the market. Made with aluminum or brass, many of these cases come with rich wood accents.

I got a kick out of seeing these new products designed by Andrea Magnani and Giovanni Delvecchio of Resign (especially the table pictured above disguised as a chair).

Fashion4Home launched in Germany in November last year, and integrates social networking and social shopping.
