This modern lounge chair by Alvar Aalto for Artek was originally designed for tuberculosis patients to sit in for long hours every day. The chair’s back is angled so that the patient can breathe most easily. It is made from bent laminated birch with a solid birch frame.

wow! this is a really cool looking chair that I’m sure it would sell. I’ve seen this product before but had no idea that it was created originally with the tuberculosis patient in mind. Chic hospital furniture.

Very nice armchair, reminds me a bit of the Ikea classical style, however much larger and stylish.

Actually “The Ikea classical style” is a ripoff of many talented scandinavian desingners. I think it’s sad that someone presents those works as their own.
