Private House by ABW Architects

This house located in Merseyside, just north of Liverpool in the UK, was designed by ABW Architects. The house is situated low and is centered around a curved glass wall in the living area of the first floor. The back of the house is just as stunning as the front with its walls of glass looking out into the large outdoor space.

Measures were taken to reduce energy consumption with high levels of insulation, low energy lights, and photovoltaic panels. Brick, stone, and wood were found locally and used during construction to minimize impact. While the colors and types of the materials used were traditional and natural, the architect modernized them in how they were used.

The glass wall creates a major focal point from both the inside and outside. It’s not often that you see a design feature like that, and honestly I can’t stop imagining what it must be like to live with it everyday.
