Provo-CUT is a new way of textile design that transforms the status quo, changing not only aesthetics but also functionality. Merényi ‘injures’ the material, leaving the marks of destruction wholly visible to the viewer.

In her coat collection, rather than tailoring the lines, she solders the pieces together. It results in a scar-like look, which is a reflection of the permanent and temporary scars that mankind leaves on Earth. It also is a nod to scarification tattoos, where a permanent trace is left on the human body.

With her dresses, she injures the textiles but then ‘heals’ the holes with a layer of painting, which transforms the initial nature of the material.

With each scar line, a new form is created – evoking a sense of strange beauty through plastic and sculptural forms.
