I love it and agree with EcoGirl about the kitchen. I twice visited Axel Vervoordt's Kasteel s-Gravenwezel for open house and found much of the castle is in a this rough-luxe style. I believe Mr. Vervoordt's understated juxtaposition of priceless artifacts with simple mountain furniture has provided inspiration to many of these new designers and showrooms. I frequently refer to his books for ideas as I renovate Garvinweasel

It’s a tough line…too much rough and it looks unfinished, too much luxe and it looks too slick. I do like the mix though, with the emphasis on the luxe. Lately I’ve begun to design in this way myself, so I understand the allure.

i love it. the peeling wall may be a bit over the top for me, but i think the concept is a good one, and the contrast is quite pleasing – at least to my eyes
