Hidden Inlays
Intruding on the standard production method, we introduce unexpected meaning and craft into a mass produced good. Intricately shaped inlays are incorporated into chip board—transforming the material from under- to Upperlayment™.

In Inlays tools, the carefully cut inlays take the shape of the tools used to make the furniture piece, and in Inlays clock, an inexpensive department store clock is preciously packed in chip board with integrated inlays of clock part shapes. It is an unusual reversal of value: the packaging becomes more precious than the mass produced object it contains.

Set in Concrete
We have grown accustomed to perceiving objects like invisible presences without history, information, manufacture and physical consistence. Everything is designed to be easily accepted in our lives and at the same time easily destroyed. In this context lightness seems to be the only one value. Because we think objects deserve more we decided to give an ode to heaviness, an ode to the physical consistency of the things that surround us. The identity of the objects has to be amplified instead of being simplified. Moreover, we need to raise its existence by putting it on a pedestal, to notice it again, respect it and perceive its physical presence.

As physical icons, stone and connected materials like marble, concrete etc, represent both heaviness and eternity. Therefore they are fit to testify of our purpose to lift up the value of simple objects. The logo on the plinth refers to and highlights the manual
action of creating the objects.
