Cajon Light is a minimalist lighting fixture designed by Kawamura-Ganjavian. The studio was founded by Key Portilla-Kawamura and Ali Ganjavian in 2000. The architectural firm recently created this light, which slightly resembles the facade of a modern building. When turned off, the volume appears to be missing face, giving it a mysterious characteristic.
When the Cajon Light is turned on, it can sit in various positions, turning itself into a mesmerizing and versatile object. The light comes in two variations: a white lacquered version and an upholstered version.
I wouldn’t know the true functionality of this light until I was able to actually use it first-hand, but from what I can tell, it seems to have utility for any type of situation. Whether for reading, ambiance, or writing, Cajon Light’s “dimmer” settings is in its actual form. The amount of light given off from the fixture is determined by the direction in which the opening is facing.
