The Lenox is one of my favorite sofas, but there are no Room and Board stores close to me. Has anyone ever sat on this sofa or any of the below ones? If so, please let me know! Thanks.

The Petrie sofa – Crate & Barrel

The Camden sofa – Crate & Barrel

The Bantam sofa – DWR
There are so many more sofas out there that I like, but I’m on a limited budget right now, so these are basically my only options that have some style. Anyone else have suggestions for similar styles on a budget?

i’ve been to room and board and sat on that sofa. it’s very comfy and well made. the whole customer service process of that store is top notch. i didn’t end up getting a sofa there but i did get a few other stuff. cb2 also has a similar style: oasis – not as clean as your other picks but certainly cheaper. :-) good luck.

eerie…those are all of my favorite sofas from when I was sofa shopping. Petrie is the most comfortable but I suspect that it might not wear great – the cushions seemed loose, so that it would dent in weird ways if you sat in the middle. I love the look and price of R&B’s Lenox, but I didn’t think it was particularly comfortable for lounging or napping. the grey color is really stellar though. I was feeling cheap so I ended up getting a vintage sofa off ebay.
Younger Furniture has a Bantam knock off:

and this smaller scale sofa that also made my list:

Room and Board’s Andre is also nice:

Thank you so much! I think that napping on the couch is one of our top priorities, since that seems to be all we do on the weekends! Thanks for the links.

I sat on Petrie and then ordered it. It’s comfy, but not in an overly squishy way. I actually recieved it today and it was completely trashed by the shipping company, so I had to decline it. So, back to waiting.

Jysk has a very similar sofa to the petrie sofa and it’s extremely cheap. Only $499. check out their website. http://www.jysk.ca. I think the sofa is called Allura.

Jysk is so similar to Ikea! Wow. Great find. Thank you.

I’m looking at the Lenox online, too. I really liked the Camden from Crate and Barrel until I sat on it, (really stiff) so I’m wary of buying without trying. Have you tried the Lenox yet? Did you end up buying it? I’ve been looking at all of the same sofas, too! The Petrie is beautiful but I hear that the fabric stains easily.

I never ended up sitting on the Lenox because I can never get to a Room & Board!I agree that the Camden is hard – I recently sat on it.

Jaime, I just took a trip to San Francisco and swung by R & B. The Lenox is very comfortable! More so than I expected. I plan to buy it when my budget allows. I had in mind to get it in the dark gray “Direct” fabric, but I didn’t think it was very nice. My husband says it looks like T-shirt material. The Dita fabric is much nicer, but limited in choices and not my favorite colors. I think I’ll go with the “Sky” fabric. Good luck.

pip,
I found out that you can get Younger sofas at Domicile and Rubins, both in Chicago.

Jaime,
I am buying a Lenox sofa & chair this week.
I live in SF, and have friends who own R&B stuff and it’s fab.
WAY better made and durable than anything IKEA.
In fact, many people who are upgrading to ‘grownup’ furniture from IKEA, shop at R&B.
The Lenox is *extremely* comfy, to lie on (*my priority too*) and sit on also.
It’s my fave of the bunch.
I really prefer the loose/free back cushion models rather than the fixed-back cushions: my preference.

p.s. you can order over the phone, easy peasy.
Where to buy Younger Sofas on 02.18.2009 at 16:43 PM
I own a Younger sectional and chairs and love them. Someone had asked where you can purchase these. You can buy them online at http://www.chapinfurniture.com. They have very good prices and will ship anywhere in the United States.

I love the crate and barrel Knoll knockoff. Kinda pricey though – I found a similar set with chair and ottoman at http://www.vintagelooks.com for $1200 with free shipping.

I have the Petrie. It does not last Im sorry to say. If you sit on your couch regularly, it wont last more than 3 years. Which I have to say is a big bummer at that price. Finally, dont even think about putting that thing even remotely close to natural light as the discoloration happens very quickly.
But it certainly is pretty.
