Still Life by Rebecca Loyche

Berlin-based artist Rebecca Loyche works with a variety of mediums including photography, sound, and installation, but her Still Life video work is downright mesmerizing. Each Still Life video in the series presents a still life scene with a table indoors against a window… but just watch and wait…

Beginning in silence, debris beings to fall onto the table. Slowly at first then becoming more frequent with the sounds getting more and more prominent. You find yourself waiting for the next piece to hit.

Then the sounds begin to quiet and the debris stops falling and the dust begins to clear. The chaotic scene turns to dust settling and peaceful sounds and you’re left with a sense of calm after the storm.
