Lee Broom’s Public House at Milan Design Week

Lee Brooms Public House at Milan Design Week

Public House was Lee Broom’s first solo exhibition and marked the fifth anniversary of the brand. It pulled together an almost complete range of his products – certainly more than even he had seen in one place before.

What more fitting backdrop could there be for an all-British brand than an old British boozer? The materials used for the exhibition: oak paneling, etched glass mirrors and an ornate wooden bar, were all reclaimed from pubs. In fact the atmosphere was so well constructed, on some of the rowdier nights, Lee had to remind people they weren’t actually in a pub!

I grabbed a few minutes with the man himself…

Bird Poop Chandelier by Wyatt Little

Bird Poop Chandelier by Wyatt Little

I am cracking up over the title of this chandelier, called the Bird Poop Chandelier, made by Wyatt Little. Paying homage to his elementary schooldays, when he found himself standing below a beautiful Oak tree, shortly after being pooped on by a rather inconsiderate bird. Even though he says it was a regrettable moment, he took this particular memory and created something beautiful and lighthearted. I want it.” I especially love the optional dab of yellow on the ends.

Joker Lamp

Joker Lamp

The Joker by Volker Haug is like the Fonzie of the lighting world. A second-hand chandelier gets a new look with a tailored zip-up leather jacket made of recycled leather. Now I want to take a bunch of old furniture and get leather jackets made for them and form a gang of secondhand furniture thugs.
