Someone has thought of the chickens! Drew Waters designed these portable modern chicken coops specifically for the backyard and urban farmer. They are safe, space-efficient homes built out of Douglas Fir timber, which has the added benefit of repelling insects. It’s quite the protective dream home for backyard chickens all around.

I’ve had quite a few cats in my day and I can say that the overall ModKat design — specifically its liner with handles — is probably one of the most simple, yet innovative ideas I’ve ever seen. It almost makes me think, “duh!” why didn’t anyone think of that before?

Lacking a garden in her LEGO like apartment building, Emilie Cazin created this Birdhouse in order to attract birds to her balcony and thus stand out from all the piled up apartments with the same windows, same walls, same balconies. The uniform balcony is transformed into a lookout for bird watchers. Birdhouse, with form that refers to, but clearly deviates from he parabolic antennas in the cityscape, is an invitation to the city’s birds to nest close to one’s window.

Gregory Kenny is a Vancouver-based designer who creates beautiful pieces of furniture, including some fantastic pet beds. Another great thing about Gregory’s designs is that 10% from the sale of each pet bed goes to support the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association, a group that rescues cats in need and gives them a foster home until they find a new family.
