Marginal Notes 2012 is a collection of prototypes by the Stockholm-based design firm Note Design Studio. The collection is in collaboration with Lerch Träinredningar and was presented this week, which is Stockholm Design Week. The group of designers examined the sketches that had been made in the margins of their notebooks and upon a second look realized they needed to be made.

These days, what isn’t Karim Rashid putting his signature on? He’s partnered up with BoConcept on a new line that launches this March, called The Ottawa Collection. I’m looking forward to this, as it seems to be a great way to get your hands on some affordable design from the master of contemporary design. The collection includes everything from dining tables and chairs to rugs to tableware.

Paris-based artist Maissa Toulet’s Curiosity Cabinets are quirky little worlds encased in glass, where animal and people parts mingle with plant life and funny little objects.
Recent furniture and product design graduate Edward Taylor studied the way in which people store their clothing and created The Show-off. The Show-off is a clothing storage unit that features an attached tree-like stand to hold garments and accessories that you might want to show off and a closed storage area for the less preferred items. The piece is made from oak, walnut, laminate and ply, and would provide great storage in the bedroom or by the front door.
Scholten & Baijings have designed a sliding door storage cabinet for Dutch furniture brand Pastoe called Shift. Launching at imm cologne, the cabinet is simple and minimalist but its translucent doors are adorned with Scholten & Baijings’ signature neon and pastel colors. You can choose between a solid or gradient. The cabinet is available in two widths and can be either frame- or wall-mounted.
