
Kerozene Design has introduced a lounge table into its Giselle collection. The designer, Anna Neklesa, hails from Saint Petersburg and is only 23-years-old. As one can see from first glance, Neklesa drew inspiration from the ballet (we’re guessing the Ballet Russes). The table is darling, its legs in a lovely tendu, its top, a gently ruffled tutu. Beneath, storage tubes accommodate magazines, newspapers, or your knitting.

Green was a big trend at the Stockholm Furniture Fair; from the color of products, to a genuine move to bring the outside in. “Grow” was no exception. Under the guidance of teachers Franz James and Asa Nystrom, furniture designer and guest curator Peter Andersson, landscape architect and guest critic Simon Irvine, students from University Gothenburg, Steneby Craft and Design, were challenged to find unexpected and playful ways to bring chlorophyll, oxygen and plants into people’s homes. Jacob Grant’s The Sound of the Forest (above) was inspired by findings that spending time in a leafy forest can reduce stress and mental illness and is a call to “bring trees inside.”

The French design firm ARCA, lead by young designers Erick Demeyer and Steven Leprizé, are launching a small edition furniture line this year. The Cl Collection was inspired by one design element: a bend. Each piece of unique furniture features the signature element as a connector between straight pieces of wood, giving it a puzzle-like feel.

UK-based designer Samuel Wilkinson launched his Hoof tables at the Stockholm Furniture Fair this week. The tables are named Hoof because of the design of the feet, which resemble hooves (or also sharpened pencils).

It was designed so that it could be assembled in moments without the need for any tools or fixings. The affordable table is made in the UK and comes neatly flat-packed in a small box with the legs sitting inside the top.

Winnipeg-based designer Thom Fougere recently completed the Tyndall Table, which debuted in January at IDS12 in Toronto, Canada. At just over 11 inches high, the low-profile table appears to be floating on its steel structure.

For example, when you’re not entertaining, perhaps you’d like to close it up, but when guests come over, you might want to move the sliding parts outwards to accommodate extra drinks and plates.
