Holiday Wishlist 2010: Leo

We don’t do gift guides here on Design Milk because everyone does them. We like to be different. Last year, we did staff wishlists and once again we thought it would be fun to continue this new tradition and ask each current contributor what was on their wishlist this holiday season — realistic or pipe dream. So, for 2 weeks we featured staff wishlists — see them all here.

These are some of my absolute FAVORITE designs that I would die to buy.

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Leo

1. Aero by Balmuda
If I were to buy any desk, it would undoubtedly be this desk by Balmuda. Inspired by airplanes, manufactured by laser-cutting steel, coated with glass — I think the word “awesome” describes this desk pretty effectively.

2. Factory Planter by METAPHYS
I’ve been going through a “green” phase, and by that I mean I’ve been populating my whole home and office with plants. I want this.

3. Endless Notebook
Environmental, compact, and endless? I seriously don’t know why I don’t own this yet.

4. Humidifier Ver. 3 by plusminuszero
Yes, it is a humidifier. But it is designed by one of my all-time favorite designers: Naoto Fukasawa. Definitely deserves a spot on my wishlist.

5. Flat Tissue Box by Ideaco
I love plastic design, and this tissue box has just the right curves to make it to my wishlist.

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Jaime

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Jaime

If you haven’t already heard on the interwebs, Mr. Design Milk and I have purchased a house. And not just any house, but our long-awaited, dream house. A mid-century modern ranch house that is the essence of all things Design Milk. But, until we move in, we’re all about dreaming, thinking, and planning about decorating, designing, renovating and remodeling! You can be sure to hear a lot more about the Design Milk House next year, but for now, here are some of the things on my house wishlist… and a few things for me too!:

1. A bold, yet minimalist white watch
Like this Hexagon one or the Nixon Vega.

2. Red LCWs
A dream of mine for my new house is to have a pair of red Eames LCWs in the living room.

3. A pair of Heima Candlesticks
To make my dream dining room tablescape complete!

4. Boots like these Bikkembergs
I want a really casual pair of tough-looking black boots that can take me through the elements but could still look cool with a skirt.

5. Zigzag Rug in Iron/Ivory/Fez Red from West Elm
I have lusted over this rug for so long. I have no idea where I would put it, but I know I want it somewhere.

6. Nelson Saucer Lamp
I bought a complete 1950s/1960s dining room set for my new house, but it needs the right lighting to showcase its mid-century beauty. I’m definitely getting a Nelson Saucer. I’ve actually been dreaming of this for years now and it will be great to see it all come together when we move in next year.

7. Zenzation Athletics Yoga Mat BagHoliday Wishlist 2010: Jaime
I’ve gotten really into yoga the past few months and I desperately need a mat bag. This one is fairly modern in style, simple and doesn’t have lots of hippie embroidery or crazy patterns. It appears to have a nice, thick shoulder strap, too. I think it suits me quite well.

8. Best Before Vases
To complete my milk carton collection, I need to get all three sizes of these milk cartons from Ricochet Studio.

9. The King is Dead by The Decemberists
Unfortunately, it’s not being released until mid-January but at least it’s available for pre-order!

10. Butterfly Chairs
I’ll take two, please! YUM.

11. Drop Bank
To make the ugly man valet full of change disappear from the top my dresser.

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Britton

We don’t do gift guides here on Design Milk because everyone does them. We like to be different. Last year, we did staff wishlists and once again we thought it would be fun to continue this new tradition and ask each current contributor what was on their wishlist this holiday season — realistic or pipe dream. So, for next 2 weeks we’ll be featuring staff wishlists.

I especially love Britton’s wishlist this year because I feel like you can really get a sense for who she is!

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Britton

1. The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs
Yes, I want a hotel in my stocking. There are too many awesome things about the Ace Hotel Palm Springs to list so I’ll just take it all. I’ve never seen Desert-Mod-Nautical-Bohemian-Boy Scout done better.

2. Lyve Shield Necklace
Maybe it’s all of the Dark Ages battle sagas I’ve been obsessed with lately but this shield pendant, made in the ancient tradition, is the stuff legends are made of.

3. Nina Sings the Blues by Nina Simone
The original 1967 RCA Records pressing of Nina Sings the Blues by Nina Simone. Had it. Lent it. Lost it. No one sings it like Nina did. NO ONE.

4. Hand-Woven Market Basket
This lovely fair trade market basket is the perfect tote to get your farmer’s market veggies safely home. Hand woven by the Widow’s Weaving Cooperative in Northern Ghana.

5. Little Plum Vessel
Renewable wood fashioned after Pueblo pottery.

6. Screen-printed kitchen linens
Screen-printed linen. And feathers. Husband, wipe up your red wine with these and you are done for.

7. Heath Ceramics
Friends, food tastes better in Heath.

8. A Velorbis Studine Classic Ladies Bike
Your ride to the farmer’s market, pub and park just got waaaay more stylish.

9. 1000 Garden Ideas book
Written by Stafford Cliff, the author of 1974′s seminal House Book. If it’s anything like that, I want to see pretty gardens but I really want to see the crazy, too.

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Eleanor

Last year, we did staff wishlists and once again we thought it would be fun to continue this new tradition and ask each current contributor what was on their wishlist this holiday season — realistic or pipe dream. So, for next 2 weeks we’ll be featuring staff wishlists.

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Eleanor

I had the hardest time this season thinking up a dream list! Maybe it’s a testament to contentment, maybe I haven’t been blog surfing enough, either way it wouldn’t hurt to get my hands on some of these effects:

1. L.L. Bean Duck Boots
Classic, all-weather wear made in Maine. Certainly not the same ol’ urban rain gear we see almost daily here in NYC.

2. Nau Fluent Traveler
It’s been on my list for over a year — I should really just take the plunge.

3. New iPod Nano
How is it that this always happens? My ancient Shuffle finally dies, only weeks before Apple’s latest release, but my MP3 addiction keeps me from holding out. Now I’m jonesing the latest Nano release like no other.

4. The Selby Is in Your PlaceHoliday Wishlist 2010: Eleanor
Sure, you’ve seen this book all over the place. Sure, it’s $23 bucks. But seriously, The Selby’s an instant classic.

5. Salt Lake City Home
I went to college in Utah and now many of my closest family and friends are 2,000 dreadful miles away. Goal One: Buy a base in Salt Lake. Goal Two: Make it Brent Jespersen’s.

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Joel

We don’t do gift guides here on Design Milk because everyone does them. We like to be different. Last year, we did staff wishlists and once again we thought it would be fun to continue this new tradition and ask each current contributor what was on their wishlist this holiday season — realistic or pipe dream. So, for next 2 weeks we’ll be featuring staff wishlists. Let’s start off with Joel!

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Joel

1. Converse Jack Purcell Johnny
Unassuming, clean looking and back to basis. This is what a shoe must be. Always.

2. Bitosi Ceramics in Rimini Blu
The craftsmanship is amazing. I love how delicate they look.

3. LaCie WhizKey 8GB
Small enough to carry everywhere and convenient to put it in your key ring and forget about it!

4. Gedore Letter Punch Set
I will be branding everything that I can with these!

5. GenevaSound Small
It’s small enough that you can bring it to your office and play your favorite tunes.

6. Officine Panerai Base Logo
I have more complicated watches from the brand, but I really like how spartan this one is. Very basic.

7. Copeland Light
A nice option from the usual Tolomeos (that I adore!) They have a modern look to it without going overboard.

8. Mouille Three Arm Ceiling Lamp
This industrial looking lamp, will have you with neck pain as soon as you install it because you cannot take your eyes out of it.

9. Nelson Polygon Clock
What can I say? I’m a sucker for these things. Do I need it? no. Do I want it? Yes. Enough said.

10. Apple MacBook Air
Would I be replacing my trusty iPad with this? We’ll see!

My Holiday Wishlist: Jessica

We don’t do gift guides here on Design Milk because, well, everyone does them. We like to be different. So we decided to go in another direction this year. Since our staff is getting larger, we thought it would be fun to ask each person what was on their wishlist this holiday season. So, every day for next 2 weeks we’ll feature a staff wishlist. Check out what Jessica’s got on her list:

My Holiday Wishlist: Jessica

1. A Treehouse
I live in Brooklyn, NY where you only have tree lined streets and some parks, but this would be incredible to have in a future backyard.

2. Micaela Greg Knitwear
Drooling over her leggings and also this knit skirt drapes so well.

3. Stilts by Julie Morstad
Fabulous piece of artwork that I think it would look amazing framed in my house. I feel like I see a lot of illustration over the internet, but her work grabs me time and time again.

4. A Porcelain Cactus
I already collect real Cacti so why not have something that will last forever and you never have to water.

5. Beetle and Flor’s Beaver Skull
Handcrafted in Brooklyn and completely original.

6. Black Starburst Booties
I have wanted something like this for a while. I love all the buckles and studs.

My Holiday Wishlist: Annie

We don’t do gift guides here on Design Milk because, well, everyone does them. We like to be different. So we decided to go in another direction this year. Since our staff is getting larger, we thought it would be fun to ask each person what was on their wishlist this holiday season. So, every day for next 2 weeks we’ll feature a staff wishlist. Here’s what Annie’s list includes:

My Holiday Wishlist: Annie

1. Linea Ice Oro at Gretel
Thinking that an incredibly gorgeous set of flatware will inspire me to cook more incredibly wonderful meals!

2. Bubble Chandelier by Jean Pelle
Just because it’s beautiful, do I really need a better reason?!  Oh and because I’m obsessed with lighting!

3. Mushroom Nos Da Blanket at Gretel
I love a super soft blanket and I love pattern!  Also don’t know if my tiny radiator is going to keep me warm this winter.

4. Nomadic Wonderland by Eunsuk Hur
This will look absolutely gorgeous with my new sofa…wink wink.  The fact that it’s an interchangeable modular system that I can transform is amazing!

5. Joie Refugee Lace Up Boot from Shopbop
I can’t bear to part with my perfectly worn in boots I’ve had for years, but I think it’s time.  These boots may be just what it takes to make me forget about them!  The perfect mix of combat and riding boot…gorgeous!

6. B14 Bathsystem by Boffi
Because a girl can dream, right?!

7. Alaskan Malamute puppy photo by Rigor & Samnooshka
It’s the cutest puppy in the world!  If you’re looking to adopt this holiday be sure to check your local shelters!

8. Faceted Wooden Rock by Kindling Shop
These would make the perfect centerpiece for my dining table.

9. Fuji Instax Instant Camera at Photojojo
So I can simplify just one thing in my life!

10. Sketchbook 2009 Drawing 16 of 32 by Ms. Jaime Derringer
Because it is awesome.  When and if she decides to sell this one…I’ve got first dibs!  So for now it’s just on my wishlist!

11. Boyd Sofa by Pinch Design
Really looking forward to snuggling with my new puppy on this “ultimate curl-up” sofa.  I swear he won’t chew on the legs!

My Holiday Wishlist: Catrina

We don’t do gift guides here on Design Milk because, well, everyone does them. We like to be different. So we decided to go in another direction this year. Since our staff is getting larger, we thought it would be fun to ask each person what was on their wishlist this holiday season. So, every day for next 2 weeks we’ll feature a staff wishlist. Here’s what Catrina wants, although something tells me those last ones might not be available…

My Holiday Wishlist: Catrina

1. Attack of Literacy Print by Joshua Kemble
I fell in love with this illustration when I saw it on Society6 while I was browsing applicants’ work for the Design Milk Mini-Interview and Post opportunity. It isn’t available as a print (although I would really love that, so maybe I’ll put in a little hint for him), but it is available as a graphic tee on Threadless. It’s sold out at the moment, unfortunately. I can definitely see why.

2. Super Secret Spy Lens from Photojojo
Somehow, people have a sixth sense for knowing when the camera lens is on them, which isn’t helpful when I’m trying to capture some good candids! These “spy lens” from Photojojo can help eliminate that little problem I have by attaching to the lens of my Nikon DSLR camera.

3. A History Of The World In Six GlassesMy Holiday Wishlist: Catrina by Tom Standage
This book explains the significance of six different beverages (beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and cola) and how they helped shape human history. I find it an interesting approach to giving insight from the Stone Age to today.

4. An endless supply of Cheddar Cheese Popcorn from Popcorn Palace
I love gourmet popcorn. I’d really like to have a gigantic tin on the floor in my room for the popcorn along with endless refills of popcorn being sent to me every month.

5. Mix Tape USB Drive from Fred Flare
I’ve seen a lot of different USB drives out there, but this one by far is my most favorite in the bunch. It isn’t as compact as the small USB stick I have on hand already, but it has 512 megabytes of space and it speaks volumes about how much I love stuff inspired by mixtapes

6. Reverse alarm clock
This actually doesn’t exist, but I wish it did. It would do the opposite of a morning alarm clock. I have a habit of sleeping really late, so I think an alarm clock that somehow tells me to go to sleep would be perfect.

7. My own personal sushi chef
Because I find myself wanting sushi almost all the time, so why not?

8. Two panda bears
They’d be best friends. I’d name them after Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

I collect white things, because for some reason, I feel a bit more Scandinavian that way. This would make the loveliest addition to my collection… ever.

3. Herringbone Throw at Auto
Do I need a reason to love this?

4. Beechwood Kitchen Utensils at A+R
I just bought a fixer-upper and can’t wait to display these in my newly renovated kitchen! Eek!

5. Covo Teapot at DeDeCe
Because this is the prettiest teapot I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

6. I Love Your Style: How to Define and Refine Your Personal StyleMy Holiday Wishlist: Erin by Amanda Brooks at Amazon
I re-invent my wardrobe entirely too often and am hoping that one day, I’ll finally get my act together and achieve the ultimate in style definition. Until then, I’m riding the coattails of Amanda Brooks.
