Gonçalo Campos has designed a series of clever porcelain platters called Tecido that looks like a napkin or tablecloth draped over dishware.
Campos worked hard to get this process just right – finding a way to give substance and rigidity to a piece of fabric so that they could fix the shape and create a mold. Working with Vista Alegre, a Portuguese Porcelain and Crystal company founded back in 1824, Campos created the perfect elegant shape that could definitely be mistaken for fabric.
Each piece is a mystery – makes you wonder what was initially underneath the mold before it was cast. Pretty enough to be used for special occasions but still feel casual enough for everyday gatherings.
