Tenda Lamp by Benjamin Hubert

Born from research of materials in the fashion and sports industry, Tenda is a series of lamps made of multi-layered textiles. Designed by Benjamin Hubert, the lamp’s convex exterior is made of a quad-directional stretch micro mesh (from the underwear industry), which gives varying illusions of opaqueness. The inside layers consist of a light-diffusing Lycra (from the sports industry) in concave-like curves.

The support structure, which holds all these forms together, is constructed of fiberglass rods (from the kite manufacturing industry) held by textile and brass connectors (via the tent industry). This complex design took around 12 months to complete and now you know why.
