Tre: A Reading Environment with Personality

Roee Magdassi decided to ask a question when beginning this project…

“Does furniture have a personality?”

To answer that question, Magdassi chose to create the Tre reading environment where the morphology of animals was explored – a world where each individual has a different and unique character, behavior, and appearance, yet all with a common ground when it comes to vision and conception.

Working with a process of abstraction and reduction, Magdassi broke down figures of animals until the animal just about vanished, leaving only a few strokes or a single color. That is how the three pieces of furniture were formed.

The reading lamp can be tilted to adjust and dim the light.

The solid oak side table is CNC milled in such a way that it has a super thin appearance but it still has strong grip of the legs.
