Corque Design is a young Portuguese design studio co-founded by designer and researcher Ana Mestre, who creates beautiful and distinctive objects for the home made from one of the country’s most abundant and sustainable resources: cork.
Their new Vinco chair, designed by Toni Grilo, caught my eye. One of their newest designs, it’s made of a combination of natural agglomerate cork and rubber cork. The design is derived from a set of “creases” in the cork flat board, and the volumetric seat is supported by a polished steel structure.
Corque Design recently made its US debut at a Meatpacking District exhibit in conjunction with ICFF and NY Design Week, is now available at select US retailers – MoMA in NYC, EsporĂŁo in NYC and TOUCH in LA.
