Split-Level Beach House in South Africa by SAOTA

From the Cape Town-based architectural firm SAOTA (short for Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects) comes another superb home situated in Voelklip, Hermanus, which is on the Western Cape of South Africa. The Voelklip House is a split-level beach house built for a family of four along the coast.

The residence is long and narrow, which the lot called for but they are still able to have a terrace with ocean views as well as beach access.

The top floor houses the kitchen and double-height family areas, as well as the dining room, two bedrooms, and mostly importantly, the pool. The house appears to sleep a small army with another series of bedrooms downstairs.

You can gaze at the pool as you cook since it’s right off the kitchen. I love how the space completely opens up.
