World Clock by cloudandco

World Clock is a minimalist design created by Korea-based company cloudandco for 11+. The clock is 11+’s eighth project in their line of clean and functional products. The product follows suit on the brand’s focus in creating beautifully designed products at reasonable prices. Although the face of the World Clock may not seem out of the ordinary, its cylindrical body allows it to display 24 different time zones via a clever rolling mechanism.

The design utilizes counterweights at the bottom of the clock to restrict the minute and hour hands from moving. By default, the clock is faced upward with the user’s local time at the top of the clock. When the user rolls the clock along a flat surface, only the face of the clock moves revealing a new time and new location to match. Independently working hands allow the clock to be quickly rolled to any of its 24 time zones, while automatically rolling back to the local time when released.

From a design and engineering perspective, even the plastic shell reveals incredibly detailed, embossed and debossed typography that requires advanced molding technologies. The shell is made of polycarbonate, and currently comes in three colors: Midnight Blue, Modern Grey, and Orange Passion.
