Woven Paintings by Victoria Manganiello

When you think of paintings, images of traditional works created with liquid paints come to mind, but for Victoria Manganiello, her medium of choice is a variety of textiles. The resulting abstract imagery is made through her process of spinning, dying, and weaving with things like synthetic and natural dyes, cotton, silk, and a mix of other materials.

Each work is made on a floor loom where she builds each element led by her artistic intuition. Besides exploring paintings in a new medium, she breaks them out to become three-dimensional installations that manipulate the spaces they hang in.
