Michiel Cornelissen is always coming up with the most clever designs that I really want to own. His latest is a 3D printed lamp that’s kind of like a flexible textile. ZooM is made up of hundreds of small, interlocking elements that join together to form spirals.
The pentagonal lampshade is manufactured flat and assembled. You easily pull up on the center and the cone-like shade takes form. Pop in a simple cord and bulb socket and you have a functional lamp.
The structure is semi-transparent so it blocks the bulb’s glare but lets off plenty of light.
You can purchase a ZooM Medium in black or white polyamide or a ZooM Large in white, all via Shapeways.
