After trips to South America, 01M-OneMoment decided to create ecological shoes based on an ancient method of foot protection.
Located in Valencia, Spain, 01M-OneMoment is composed of two architects/designers and one engineer. They discovered the traditional Amazonian way to use the hevea tree (walking in the jungle during the rainy season, the local people toasted latex on their feet to protect them from parasites).
After about three years of testing different ideas and concepts, they developed new biodegradable polymers that offer resistance and elasticity that could also biodegrade easily. The production of these new shoes is just nine steps from raw materials to packaging, all produced locally using energy-efficient machines.
They claim that their 01M shoes are the lightest shoes in the world (max 160 gr /pair for biggest size). Easy to transport, you can just fold them up and insert into your handbag. As resilient as any flip-flop, these protect your feet much more and you can even throw them in the washing machine.
