A 200-Square-Foot Writer’s Studio on a Hillside

ANX / Aaron Neubert Architects designed a minimalist writer’s studio, dubbed Black Box, in Los Angeles’ Franklin Hills neighborhood. Situated on a steep, sloping piece of property, the hillside retreat spans 200 square feet and floats above the residence giving it panoramic views of Griffith Park.

A set of stairs leads to the studio that’s built right under the tree canopies. Telescoping doors open up the space from the entry platform directing visitors to the floor-to-ceiling window.
