Vessel Child’s Desk by Alain Gilles for Mathy by Bols

Alain Gilles designed this children’s desk called Vessel for Mathy by Bols that plays with the archetypal school desk, but brings it into the present day. It also refers lightly to the world of wooden children toys with its little “vessel” that is both a graphic and playful modular element.

When buying the desk, you can choose from three different types of “vessels” finished in several stained wood colors or natural oak. Each vessel performs a specific function such as storing pencils, paper clips, rubber bands, papers, or even an iPad. The vessels slide along a “track” created on the desk’s wooden surface.
