Log Stack Cabinet by Byron & Gómez

Byron & Gómez sought to showcase the end grain and the unique beauty that comes from each individual piece of wood. Looking at both traditional Chinese medicine cabinets and the simple form of a stack of wood, they created the Log Stack Cabinet where each drawer looks to be a single piece of wood piled on top of one another.

On the drawer fronts, white resin fills fractures and the center ring, which becomes the handle. The sides of the drawers were painted white, as well as the back, to give the illusion that the white was spilling out from the inside of the wood through to the cracks on the fronts.
