Typically, when we think of oxidizing metals, we think of rust. However, experimental eyewear company Shwood is reimagining the effect of oxidation on materials. Instead, they view oxidation as one of nature’s most beautiful chemical reactions and utilize that to create a one-of-a-kind look for sunglasses.
Using an in-house procedure, Shwood ages brass inlays to mimic natural processes. As a result, a whirlpool of blues, golds, and glittering turquoises blend together to create a mesmerizing look. The brass inlays are then fit into wood or acetate versions of their best-selling silhouette, the Canby. All lenses are Japanese polarized lenses and are available here.
