Originally inspired by the rolling hills, quaint villages, and the steep coastline of Dorset, Another Country is celebrating their fifth anniversary with a collection of five, limited edition pieces from international designers. Taking nod from the beautiful landscape, the items in the Dorset Series feature a neutral palette with cool undertones and organic materials.
Industrial designer David Irwin created two distinct objects for Another Country— the Hardy Chair and Purbeck Buoys. The Hardy chair is inspired by novelist Thomas Hardy, and emphasizes the beauty of family heirlooms. The stone Purbeck Buoys take after bold, colorful floats that are used to mark lobster trap spots in Dorset.
Catherine Aitken designed a sturdy oak and brass step stool that’s inspired by the dry stone walls of rural England.
Designed by Studio Dessuant Bone, the Jurassic Light 117 was inspired by the Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast. The simple shape of the light keeps its minimal style, and was constructed of Portland stone, which often carries impressions of fossils.
Last but not least, Note created Vase in a bright, aqua color and matte finish that’s inspired by the sea glass of the Dorset coast.
The anniversary collection will be on display during London Design Festival 2015.
