DU/ER No Sweat Pants Are Engineered to Combat Odors

“Performance fabrics” are normally associated with activities like running, lifting weights, or playing sports. Alongside the greater range of movement (aka stretch) these woven fibers offer the wearer, they’re also very good at transporting sweat away from the body, and in the process combating odor. Despite what anyone says, we also sweat throughout the day – whether at work or during more casual hours – so why shouldn’t the same technologies and principles be applied to everyday wear?

DU/ER’s reputation was built upon their catalog of performance denim, but they’ve been working on a new proprietary blend of fabrics to make into technical stretch fabric pants designed to dress up and down across the fashionable spectrum. A mixture of polyester, cotton, 1% spandex (for stretch), and Tencel (DU/ER’s secret weapon with anti-bacterial odor protection) results in what DU/ER calls their No Sweat Pant.

Compared to the other three materials Tencel, a form of rayon, isn’t as widely known. The botanically derived fiber made from Eucalyptus trees (generically known as Lyocell) is extremely soft and was chosen specifically because it works against the proliferation of bacteria that normally feeds off your body’s sweat. It’s also a sustainably grown material, and can be increasingly found in products like mattresses and bed linens…basically anything where comfort and hygiene come into play.

After a little more than a week wearing a sample pair of DU/ER’s No Sweat Pant (slim/black) I can comfortably endorse these pants for their comfort and versatility. That little bit of spandex gives the pants just enough stretch to be wearable while doing physical activity, while the slim jean-like profile in black makes them easy to wear across any occasions. I’ve reached for these now-favorite pants from the drawers more than any I currently own because they’re very satisfyingly soft against the skin, but don’t wrinkle like trousers (they feel like your favorite jeans, broken in after a few years). The bonus of course is the inclusion of Tencel which means these pants aren’t prone to get funky smelling, even after a few weeks of wear between washes.
