“From Siberia” Brings Back A Traditional Siberian Craft

Designer Anastasiya Koshcheeva is not letting old traditions die. Instead, she’s putting a contemporary spin on a traditional manufacturing technique and historic Siberian craft that recovers birchbark. Similar to the importance of plastic in modern day design, birchbark was once vital to humans years ago.

“From Sibera” consists of three different objects that exemplify unique aspects of birchbark. TUESA Containers are modern day containers for food or spices. Birchbark has antibacterial and isolating qualities, which keeps perishable items fresh for longer than conventional materials.
