Furniture that Mimics Slovakian Apartment Buildings

A familiar sight in Eastern Europe, particularly Slovakia, are massive prefab panel buildings, called paneláks, which were built after the war to deal with the housing shortage. They hold lots of apartments and tend to be fairly simple in appearance. The buildings are what inspired Slovakian design studio LAŠŠÁK STUDIO to design PANELÁK, a series of furniture with exteriors that mimic the designer’s visual memories.

The collection includes a dresser with three drawers, a movable coffee table, and a wall lamp, each with the look of the panel-surfaced buildings.
