adidas Originals NMD City Sock Looks Comfy

The adidas NMD was designed as a respective nod to three different running shoes that defined the adidas in the 80s: the Micropacer, the Rising Star, and the Boston Super. Updated with a lightweight Boost midsole and Primeknit upper, the recent release diverged from its parental precursors by primarily focusing upon them as a lifestyle appeal, rather than serious athletic performance.

Now adidas Originals continues evolving beyond the technical running silhouette by further jettisoning features from their uppers. The remaining minimalist shoe has become a sock…the adidas Originals NMD “City Sock”.

The NMD City Sock still sports a Primeknit upper – sans laces and heel cage – with a higher elevated cuffed sock-fit ankle and large serial number detailing, leaving what could be best imagined as a deconstructed chukka-style boot. Adidas has also left the NMD’s signature sole plugs on the side, this time in black, complementing the striped upper. The monochromatic pattern and color combo make present a fashionable counterpart to its all-black activewear partner (shown below).

A few other iterations of the NMD, one a premium suede chukka boot, the other a color variation of the City Sock:

Expect to see these adidas Originals NMD sneakers drop as Spring/Summer 2016 releases.
