Designer Khodi Feiz continues his successful relationship with Artifort with a simple idea that sees two parts, one sliding through the other, working as one to form a comfortable chair. Combining two foam molded upholstered parts, the Niloo chair seamlessly fits together much like the archetypical two-part African chair from the Congo region that inspired it.
In the 1950s, Artifort launched the Congo and Pinguïn chair, both designed by Theo Ruth, which were quite innovative at the time and inspired by the same typology as the Niloo. The new chair brings the idea full circle and embraces Artifort’s history, while forging ahead into the future.
The design sees an angled seat that fits through a slot on the curvy back part continuing on to become the back leg.
