Juno Jeon Breathes Life Into His Furniture

We interact with our furniture everyday even though we may not always be aware of doing so in the moment (sitting on our couch or swiveling on our desk chair, for example). Netherlands-based designer Juno Jeon makes these interactions more apparent with his Alive furniture series, starting with the Pull Me To Life drawer.

Like scales on a reptile, this unique drawer comes alive with use. When the drawer is pulled out, its wooden skin pulls back revealing a new coat of color. When the drawer is pushed back into place, the scales go back to its resting state and color, as if it went back to sleep.

Jeon also created Fade, a pair of cabinets that, at first glance, look like an everyday storage unit. It’s when you take a few steps and look at it again that you’ll notice its special effect: it changes colors! Look at the cabinet straight on and you can see its contents. When you move to the left or right of it though, the cabinet creates a more subtle form interaction with its user by changing color and visibility.
