Kelly Behun Launches Pop-Up Shop & Capsule Collection With Barneys

Alongside a pop-up shop at Barneys New York, New York-based interior designer Kelly Behun has launched a capsule collection for the retailer that features her keen, bold design sensibility that we’ve been a fan of for years. A Kook Milieu, which is on view until October 31st, 2016, is a curated space partly inspired by gallerist Holly Solomon, who made a name for herself by championing the Pattern & Decoration Movement of the 70s and 80s, as well as blurring the lines between art and design.

Designed exclusively for Barneys New York, the limited run collection features over 40 home furnishings, accessories, textiles, rugs, and furniture that Behun created with help from makers around the globe. During the pop-up, a brand-new series of rugs, designed with rug specialist Tai Ping, will be unveiled. Overall, the collection perfectly continues Behun’s vibrant and graphic vision that always make me wish I could spend just five minutes inside her head to experience.

The pattern-focused collection is on display with original art from two of Holly Solomon’s favorite artists: Izhar Patkin, whose painted neoprene curtain hangs in the space, and large scale wallpaper and painted chairs by Kim MacConnel.
