New Work from Design Duo Skram

Friends, Collaborators, Designers — Mimi Logothetis and A. Jacob Marks are all of the above, as well as the duo behind Skram. Based in North Carolina, this design pair seeks perfect imperfection, where they combine above-par craftsmanship with organic, subtle imperfections of natural materials. They recently launched two new additions to their collection, Oxide and Torpedo.

Oxide is a sleek set of tableware and servingware that is unique to Skram. With Oxide, they aimed to create heirloom objects — ones that would last for lifetimes. They feature a metallic black glaze exterior with red-oxide accents. The collection spans all tableware items, from plates to mugs to vases to bowls. All of the pieces are produced by Mimi in her studio.

Next is Torpedo, sculptural lighting inspired by antique levels that sit in Jacob Marks’ office. After being around them for at least a year, they began to take shape as lighting in his head. Finally, he launched Torpedo in spring. Torpedo features a solid bronze body and exposed joinery, giving nod to traditional woodworking joinery. The end cap and hang bar are made from a patinized gunmetal steel. A soft light emanates from the narrow slots on the side, creating a warm glow wherever it sits.
