David Rockwell Collaborates with The Rug Company on a New Trio of Rugs

No stranger to working with The Rug Company, architect and designer David Rockwell collaborated on three new designs for them that reference his love of nature – Lola, Misty, and Moonlight Tidal. The energetic trio of luxurious rugs feature subdued color schemes and eye-catching abstract designs that come together through modern techniques and traditional craftsmanship. Each rug is completely handmade by Nepalese weavers and is available in multiple sizes.

Misty

Made from bamboo silk, Misty features a rich indigo blue ombré design that transitions to white on the side edges.

Moonlight Tidal

Also made from bamboo silk, the Moonlight Tidal rug is an updated version of their original Tidal rug, featuring a cool and warm gray painterly design mimicking a reflection in the water.

Lola

Lola is a special design as it was inspired by a series of glazed ceramic vessels that Rockwell decorated with his daughter Lola in Pascale Girardin’s Montreal ceramic studio (see below). Rockwell’s dynamic design comes from the same brushstroke idea that Girardin painted on hand-thrown sake vessels for the Rockwell Group’s Nobu Downtown Restaurant in Manhattan.
