Emanuele Magini’s Anish Hides a Chair Within Its Circular Frame

Emanuele Magini pays homage to artist Anish Kapoor in the recently released Anish, a chair for Campeggi that tricks the eye. At first glance, the piece appears to be an oversized circular frame with fabric, perhaps a sculpture, but upon closer inspection, a clever chair is revealed.

The metal frame supports a ring of elasticized fabric with a seat hidden behind it. The design is meant to welcome the user while also creating a sense of separation with its large back. Some might be confused by it while others will attempt to investigate what it is and when they do, they’ll find a seat waiting for them.
