Grzywinski+Pons Infuses the Whitworth Locke Hotel with a Classic Yet Contemporary Charm

New York-based design studio Grzywinski + Pons does it again with their interior design magic touch with Locke Living’s latest hotel, the Whitworth Locke in Manchester, United Kingdom. Similar to the hospitality brand’s other two hotels, the Leman Locke and the Eden Locke, the Whitworth Locke balances classic and contemporary design in a beautifully understated way that seemingly only Grzywinski+Pons can execute.

The Whitworth Locke is composed of 160 studios and one-bedroom suites, a bar, cafe, lounge, and co-working space, all housed inside a 19th century cotton mill made up of three linked buildings. Grzywinski+Pons executed a complete gut renovation but still retained the solid bones and beauty of the Victorian structure. A tonal color palette of muted pinks, greens, blues and yellows add a contemporary, inviting warmth to various spaces.

Natural light streams through the glass atrium that houses The Conservatory, the pop-up bar that brings together guests from the Whitworth Locke’s three buildings with a menu of hand-selected wines, craft beer and inventive cocktails.

Throughout the public spaces and guest rooms of the hotel, you can find quiet vignettes like the one above that speak to Grzywinski+Pon’s signature design style of creating intimate and understatedly elegant spaces.
