Rado Watches Collaborates with Designer Inma Bermudez

We love when unlikely designers and artists collaborate, in this case Rado watches and Spanish industrial designer Inma Bermudez. Known for recreating everyday objects with flair, Bermudez borrowed inspiration for the Rado True Thinline Gem watch from her work making porcelain. Her initial idea for the design was to create a twist on a classic – a watch design that looks both modern and enduring.

From her studio in Valencia, Spain, Bermudez used facetted sapphire crystal cut to look like a large diamond with a texture relief dial for exceptional light absorption, reflection, and refraction to create an illusion of depth and thickness in Rado’s thinnest watch, which has a case that’s just 5 mm thick. Add in 12 tiny diamonds around the edge of the dial with a subtle gold color, and the pure white high-tech porcelain of the True Thinline really pops. It’s currently available in a limited edition of 1,001 pieces, each with a special case back engraving.

Speaking about the collaboration with Inma Bermudez, Rado CEO Matthias Breschan said, “Inma has brought a unique lightness and optimism to the True Thinline as well as conveying hardness, depth and durability through her choice of jewel motif. It was a fantastic challenge for Rado to use our own materials in a new way for a product that has the eternal feel of a diamond and the long-lasting appeal of a classic idea.”
