Haldane Martin’s 2019 Outdoor Collections Offer up Urban Chic Living

Iconic South African designer Haldane Martin has released four new outdoor collections, all designed in Cape Town for urban chic outdoor living. Designed with the South African lifestyle in mind, they sit at the intersection of beauty and versatility, ready to take on whatever setting you choose.

The Hula Outdoor Collection is playful and nostalgic, paying homage to the classic Salterini Hoop Chairs of the 1950s. These modern chairs – a dining chair, a lounge chair, a barstool, and a kitchen stool – offer a fun pop of color and geometric form wherever they’re placed. Their wired stripes and circular rings are reminiscent of a “Hula Hoop” form, a powerful visual contrast that gives the collection its name. They even stack for easy storage.

New additions include a loveseat and an oversized papasan cane-style outdoor sofa. Made from rust-proof stainless steel solid rod, the durable frames are powder-coated with exterior grade UV polyester with a ferro grain finish in a wide selection of hues. Frames are also available in electropolished stainless steel. They also come with the option of removable seat cushions for additional comfort. The cushions are secured with Velcro detailing and are available in a range of 100% color-fast outdoor fabrics.

The Papa Sun Outdoor Sofa Collection is an outdoor sofa series that’s ideal for lazy sunny afternoons. The 1-, 2-, and 3-seater pieces in the collection embody Cape Town’s love of urban-chic outdoor living with its simplified, scooped forms. The Papa Sun Collection is a contemporary bend on the round Malaysian cane papasan chair, that was popularized in Western culture in the 1950s.

Their moon-shaped seats sit mid-air, held by minimal round stainless steel tubing, while the fiber cushions offer comfort and support, and graphic wire stripes add visual appeal.

Haldane Martin’s Polka Collection features fun, feminine café tables  inspired by Cape Town’s foodie culture and the South African outdoor lifestyle. The radiant and colorful Polka collection brings flair to cafes, restaurants, and bars with its leggy tripod tables and perforated steel polka dots. Manufactured in stainless steel solid rod and coated in UV resistant pure polyester, they’re safe from rain, wind, and sun.

The self-leveling Polka café tables are balanced 2-4 seaters with three diameters: 600 mm, 750 mm, or 1m. Standard café tables offer several low dining heights to fit lounge chair seating, or go as high as 1m for after work drinks.
