A Summer House in the Countryside of Bohemia, Czech Republic

DDAANN designed a summer house in a field located in central Bohemia, Czech Republic, as a holiday house for a family with three generations. The house comprises a series of smaller connected volumes built around the central gathering point of the home. The common area features a living room with a fireplace, a kitchen, and a dining room with sliding glass doors that connect to the surrounding garden.

Each generation, which includes the grandparents plus a couple and their two boys, has their own space with desired privacy. The grandparents have a “house” of their own with a living room, bedroom, and bathroom, while the parents have a bedroom, bathroom, and study, which act as a guest room when needed. The boys get their own space on the second floor where they share back to back beds and views overlooking the green surroundings.

The house also has a shed with a workshop and a covered parking spot that are next to the entrance.

Light panels of plywood cover surfaces and built-in furniture resulting in a clean, minimalist aesthetic.
