The Lines Rug Collection Is a True Masterpiece

For those of you who love a minimal monochromatic palette, allow me to introduce you to the Lines rug collection. Designed by Philippe Malouin for cc-tapis, the collection began by experimenting and sketching with wax crayons. That led to Malouin focusing on the irregularities that crayons naturally create for which he attempted to replicate in a rug.

After several rounds of trial and error, cc-tapis’ art director Daniele Lora began collaborating on a Tibetan craftsmanship combined with a dip-dying technique for the Himalayan wool rugs. The resulting look came close to that of the crayons, with irregular lines and uneven tones. Interestingly, this occurs due to weavers taking over from one another, each using a different ball of yarn and ensuring that no two rugs will be alike.
